Policies
Afterschool Program
An afterschool program is available on a monthly first-come first-serve basis from 2:30 until 6:00 pm. It is run by ACAC church, not by PA Cyber. Please let us know ASAP if you are interested in this program.
ArtReach Classes
You may sign up for free ArtReach classes. Courses vary by semester and age group. Contact your IS for more information.
Assignments
All Scannit assignments are to be completed at home. These must be scanned in and uploaded to your child's Little Lincoln gradebook in order to receive credit. Scannit assignments should be submitted by the end of the week.
Fluency assessments are also to be completed at home every three weeks. Do not save them up and submit them in batches; that defeats the purpose. These are for your teacher to see how your student is progressing with his/her reading, so please do not stress out about them! They are scored but not counted toward your child's grade, so take your time with them.
Attendance
Cyber++ is a supplemental drop-off program, so students are not required to attend every scheduled day.
Birthdays
If you would like to bring in a small class treat to share during snack time, please let us know at least a day ahead of time. Toys/party favors are not permitted. If your family does not celebrate birthdays, please let us know; we can provide you with a list of the class birthdays to plan in advance.
Book Orders
We will send home Scholastic book orders each month. If you would like to purchase books, please send your order back to school or order online by the due date. (Make checks payable to Scholastic Books.) Books offered through Scholastic are often cheaper than those available in bookstores, and our classroom receives bonus points for free books and materials with every order placed. Of course, ordering is optional. More information will be sent home at the time of the first book order.
Classroom Jobs
Classroom jobs are assigned to students each day. These jobs help reinforce responsibility and are an effective way to enlist students in the duties of running a classroom. Students love the classroom jobs and they take great pride in their work. All students will have the opportunity to perform each job.
Discipline
See Classroom Rules.
Drop Off/Pick Up
Drop off time is 9:00 am. Parents must park and walk their children inside.
Pick up is at 2:30 pm. Three excessively late pick-ups will result in removal from the program.
Because this is a drop off center, there may be times when you drop your child off later than the start time, or pick them up before dismissal. Parents/guardians who do this must sign in at the receptionist’s desk at the bottom of the stairs on the basement level. Also, identification MUST be shown for anyone coming to pick up your child (including yourself). Please note that the only people who will be allowed to pick up your child are those whose names you have provided on the emergency info sheet that was filled out upon signing up for the program.
Holidays
We strive to be an inclusive school, so we will not discuss religious holidays. We will have a few seasonal parties throughout the year.
Illness
If your child is sick, please do not bring him/her in. We would like everyone to stay as healthy as possible. If your child becomes sick during the day, we will call you (or your emergency contact) to come pick him/her up.
Inclement Weather
In case of inclement weather, we will follow the Pittsburgh Public School District's postings. On snow days, you should cover that day's lessons at home. In case of a 2-hour delay, drop-off will be at 11:00.
You can also sign up for my personal text message alerts.
Lunch/Snack
We do not provide food at Cyber++. You must pack a snack for your child every day (and a lunch if they are staying all day). Healthy snacks like crackers, fruit, carrots, and pretzels are great choices, but please do not pack candy. Do not pack anything that requires heating. We will have a fridge available. Mark lunches clearly with your child's name. Please package snacks separately from lunches (this saves a lot of hassle). **We will let you know of any peanut allergies.**
Supplies
You may keep your entire box of supplies at home. Everything that we need for school will be provided at Cyber++.
Toys
Toys are not permitted in the classroom, so please do not let your child bring them to school. These things can be very distracting to the other students.
